How to be a HUMAN in a technological world?
Francisco Rebelo, Paulo Noriega, Elisângela Vilar, Ernestro Vilar & Sónia Rafael ErgoUX · 2020 is an event on ergonomics, design, usability and UX that, in this 7th edition, raises the question of how to be human in a technological world.
More than a debate about design, technology and its advances, ergoUX · 2020 proposes a reflection on the role of the Human in its relationship with technology, as well as the responsibility of each actor in the construction of society and its values. Abstract
What does it mean to be post-humanist in a technological world? Humanism has always been associated with an idea of transcending the human condition based on scientific (rational) knowledge, technological progress and the separation of humanity from the laws of nature. The eurocentric anthropocentric conception that places the caucasian man at the center of the universe and that, in turn, distances him from the theological matrix (God / Nature) caused the split between Culture and Nature, as well as the belief in the existence of an antagonistic relationship, a almost state of war, between both. I intend to suggest that we are moving towards a post-humanism that foresees a subject with an ecological conscience and with inclusive concerns of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and other axes of identity - women, minorities, the economically disadvantaged, the enslaved, the subordinate, the animals, nature, the machine - and who come to be at the center of post-humanist concerns. |
