HORMAEIN
Technology and the Future of Drugs
Madalena Caballero Y Serodio & Mariana Sousa Pinto Abstract
Our research gave us an insight on the evolution of drugs and made us realize one thing that can’t be ignored: unless the planet explodes, melts or drowns, people will want to get intoxicated. Questioning how the parallel and unstoppable progression of technology may impact this somewhat dangerous realm, we found that it can be more helpful than harmful being through interactive platforms that promote awareness or through digital means to produce safer highs. Hence, we oriented our project towards harm-reduction of drug consumption. We would like to elaborate on how user-based experiences can mimic the effects of psychoactive drugs, through immersive environments that produce safe alterations of perception, mood and consciousness. In this pictorial, we present the design process and the functioning of Hormaein, an online immersive and engaging experience where the effects, emotions and sensations produced by drugs are obtained through music, specific frequency sounds, image and video. |
